RealMe if you aren’t aware is a sub brand of Oppo using the same OS that they promote. Just recently they release a new phone, the RealMe 3, which is an absolute beast for the price you can get it at, Php 6990. It’s not yet available in physical stores but you can buy the phone at Shopee and it’s almost at par with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7. Let’s take a look at the specification the RealMe 3 has.

Looking at the info given above, the phone is balanced in almost all aspects. From the processor to the amount of RAM given, it should be enough for almost all smartphone users.

Now, let’s dive in and take a look more at what the device takes pride on.

Display

The only aspect of this device which is the only downside is the screen. It’s not that bad but not the best for its segment. The RealMe 3 has an HD+ display having the dew drop notch with makes it look really premium. If you check the display, colors are very vibrant and no bleeding are seen on the phone’s edges.

Since it’s only HD+, viewing the phone under direct sunlight can be a bit troublesome even at 100% brightness. The only thing good about having the HD display is that when you launch applications, it’s faster since less pixels and resolution are needed by the apps.

Camera

Being a sub brand of Oppo means carrying what they’re most known for, their phone’s camera and this one is no different. Although the 13MP is regularly seen on most phone on the midrange segment, the RealMe 3 has one of the best shooters perhaps because of the good software it has coupled with the hardware. The Camera App has lots of features to start with, from Nightmode (Nightscape), Hybrid HDR for both lens, Chroma Boost and Portrait Mode. Bokeh shots looks really great and accurate with what you’re taking. Pictures taken show vibrant color but in dark areas, expect noises in the image.

For the front shooter, it also takes excellent photo and unlike other phones that uses color Operating System (OS), this one is not oversaturated and over processed.

Body Material

The phone is made of plastic, but one thing that we like about it is that it doesn’t feel cheap at all. The gradient back is really nice and gives off the premium look of the phone. The phone is sleek in terms of thickness.

If you look at the right side of the device, you’ll see the power button and volume rockers can be seen on the left side. Although we are used to seeing both on only one end, the placement is not really bad and can easily reached even if you’re using only one hand to operate the phone.

Battery

Sporting a 4230mah battery and good OS optimization, this one should last most users for a complete day of standard usage. If you use the phone mainly for browsing the net or watching youtube videos, it can last roughly around 8 hours of continued use. One thing that helps save battery is the HD screen. Yes, resolution is lower but with lower pixels comes with lower battery consumption.

It’s also capable of 5V2A fast charging so charging up the phone from zero to a hundred should take roughly around an hour and forty five to two hours. That already quite fast compare to phones that are only capable of 1A.

Performance

This is where the Realme 3 shines. The phone is equipped with a Mediatek Helio P60 processor clocked at 2.0 ghz for all of its core. Mediatek in the past has been known for good performance at the cost of overheating and slowing down after prolonged continued use but this isn’t the case anymore especially for the Realme 3. The processor is 12nm in size meaning that it uses less power and doesn’t overheat too much. Multitasking shouldn’t be a problem for the phone and gaming should be smooth for most of the casual games available.

For MOBAs like Mobile Legends, it can run at the highest setting with high frame rate on with little to no frame drops. For games like PUBG though, you might consider putting the settings to roughly around medium since this is a heavy game both CPU and GPU wise. Performance is almost at par with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7.

RealMe currently only has an official store via Shopee as of this time. If you head over to the product page, you’ll see that this phone has a 4.9 out of 5 rating given by 1668 people. This is only a proof of how satisfied people are with the phone and its price. Take a look at some of the reviews below:

Final thoughts

The phone is a beast overall. Processor is similar with the Oppo F9 but a huge difference in terms of pricing. If you have extra money, you could opt-in for the 3/64gb version for just P7, 990.

Also, if you are thinking whether to buy this one or the RedMi Note 7, the main thing that you should think about is whether you are a heavy gamer or not.

If you are a casual user and only plays game from time to time, go with the RealMe 3. It uses less battery and plays games smoothly. For those who prioritizes gaming, go with the RedMi Note 7. It has a much better processor which can handle heavy games much better.
